The fishing ground off Ireland's largest and most beautiful island is among the richest in Europe. Some years ago a porbeagle weighing 365lbs was taken by rod and line at Keem bay, establishing a record for Ireland and Britain which still stands.
Species common to our waters include cod, ling, pollock, whiting, haddock, ray, gurnard, conger eel, and all species of flatfish.
